Welcome to my homepage. My name is Scott Chen. I graduated from Electrical Engineering department in Caltech. I worked with Prof. Vaidyanathan in digital signal processing group when I was at Caltech.

I was born in Taipei, Taiwan on November 22, 1977. I came to the states when I was 26 after I got my master degree and finished the mandatory military service. "Scott" is my English name which I got from my Taiwanese American cousin when I was in highschool. My Chinese name is Chen, Chun-Yang (written in Chinese as ). The first character "Chen" is my surname. The second character "Chun" means "handsome" and the third character "Yang" means "respect" or "face upward" in Chinese.

I chose to study signal processing because I like its elegant mathematics and the fact that it is so useful to the people in many different aspects. My research topic was on signal processing for radar and communication systems.

After graduation, I started working for Facebook to help people connect. I am now a software engineer. This is a lot different from signal processing. But coding is always my passion. I love my job.

I enjoy watching TV and movies, playing video games, randomly reading things on the Internet, running, swimming, Yoga, tennis and golf.
